ACS falls to EA in opener

Atmore Christian School kicked off its softball season on a sour not Thursday, as the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars came to Atmore and knocked them off 15-0 at Tom Byrne Park.
The Lady Rams (0-1, 0-0) were unable to secure a hit in the contest, but did get several runners on base in the five inning game.
The teams traded outs in the first inning with both teams defenses getting the job done with Grace Kilcrease starting on the circle for ACS and A. Corley getting the start for EA.
In the top of the second inning, the Cougars jumped out to a 4-0 courtesy of runs by Hannah Fountain (4-for-4, 2 3B, 4R), Lacie Flowers (2-for-3, 2R), Grayson Emmons (2-for-3, 3R) and Page Lancaster (2-for-3, 3R).
The Lady Rams could only get one run runner on base in the bottom of the inning, as Lauren Metzler was walked.
Escambia Academy extended its lead in the top of the third scoring five runs to pull out to a 9-0 lead. Fountain, Flowers, Emmons, Lancaster and Corley (1-for-3, R) all crossed the plate in the inning.
Following another scoreless inning by the Lady Rams, the Academy put fivemore runs on the board extending their lead by 14 runs. Lulu McGhee (2-for-4, R), Fountain, Emmons, Allie Brooks (0-for-3, R) and Lancaster all put runs on the scoreboard.
Trailing 14-0, the Lady Rams were unable to make anything happen on the scoreboard with Kilcrease (0-for-2), Kaylnn Swartzendruber (0-for-2) and Lauren Metzler (0-for-2) all getting put out.
Escambia Academy finished off the contest in the fifth inning with Fountian scoring her fourth run of the game to give the Lady Cougars a 15-0 win.
