Roosevelt Lawson
ATMORE – Mr. Roosevelt Lawson, 66, of Atmore died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007.
His remains can be viewed at Christian Memorial Funeral Home Friday, Feb. 24, 2007 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Holy Community Center in Atmore with Bishop Jimmie C. Wilson officiating.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home of Atmore is directing.
Annie Ruth McCants
ATMORE – Ms. Annie Ruth McCants, 60, passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007 at Atmore Community Hospital. She was a native and resident of Atmore and a member of Lighthouse Apostolic Holiness Church.
She was employed with Lighthouse Apostolic Holiness Church Day Care.
Preceded in death were her parents, Jessie and Zelma McCants.
Survivors include: a son, Jessie McCants of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Rose Payne of Pensacola, Fla.; three brothers, Walter Lee McCants of Atmore, Claude McCants and Jimmie McCants, both of Pensacola, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Lighthouse Apostolic Holiness Church in Atmore with Pastor Robert Grissett officiating.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Atmore.
Public viewing will be Friday, Feb. 23, 2007 from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
Chesley "Pete" Smith
FLOMATON – Mr. Chesley "Pete" Smith, 70, of Flomaton died on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007 at West Florida Hospital.
Mr. Smith was a lifetime resident of the Flomaton community and a native of Barnetts Cross Roads. During his working years, Mr. Smith worked as a correctional officer at the Fountain Correctional Institution. He was a member of the Atmore Baptist Temple and was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Steven and Myrtis Johnson Smith, and his brother, Chester Smith.
Survivors include: one son, Darren Smith of Flomaton; and one nephew, Benny (Bobbie) Snyder of Brewton.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Odom and the Rev. Ralph Morgan officiating. Interment followed in New Bethlehem Cemetery,
Visitation was held Monday evening, Feb. 19, 2007 at the Chapel of Flomaton Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Pallbearers were Melvin Turner, Paul Lee, Millard Brock, Buster Crapps, J.C. Moye, and Mike Lambert.
Mabeth L. Styron
RANGE – Mrs. Mabeth L. Styron, 72, of Range died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007 in Mobile. She was born in Raburn on March 14, 1934 to the late McLeod and Bessie Roberts White.
She was a member of Belleville Baptist Church.
Survivors include, her husband, Kirby Styron of Range; one son, Donald R. Styron and wife, Janice of Atmore; one daughter, Janet Allen and husband Harold of Canoe; one brother, Clifford White of Canoe; two sisters, Alice Triplett of Atmore and Mary Barber of Canoe; seven grandchildren, Brandon Sells, Jacob Sells, Janet Welch, Trenton Styron, Ashley Holmes, Brandon Holmes, Mandy Fails; five great-grandchildren, Cruz Sells, Damian Sells, Danniel Fails, Whitney Warden and Ethan Warden.
Services were Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Yuhasz officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Brandon Sells, Jacob Sells, Randy White, Keith White, Ethan Warden, Blake Malone, and Charles Walker.
Family received friends, Saturday evening at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Willie Peoples
PERDIDO – Mr. Willie Peoples, 72, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007 at Mobile Infirmary. He was a native of Uriah and a resident of Perdido for many years. He was a member of Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Little River and chairman of the deacon board and retired from International Paper Co. in 1980 as a machine operator.
Preceded in death by his parents, Will and Alberta Peoples; two sisters, Rebecca Hayles and Dorothy Jackson; and one brother, Arthur Peoples.
Survivors include: his wife, Fannie Peoples of Perdido; six daughters, Maxine (James) Austin of Pensacola, Fla., Voncile Peoples of Flint, Mich., Maybell (Calvin) Boggan of Arlington, Texas, Geneva Peoples of Perdido, Patricia (Andreas) White and Carla (Jay) Harris of Bay Minette; two sons, Jessie (Debra) Peoples of Flint, Mich, and Leedell Peoples of Perdido; three sisters, Daisy Eason of Anchorage, Alaska, Velma Jackson of Uriah, and Frances (Clyde) Jackson of Frisco City; one brother, James Peoples of Freemanville; 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Little River with the Rev. Robert Brown officiating.
Burial will follow at Tate Chapel Cemetery in Little River.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 23, 2007 from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Chapel.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of all arrangements.
