Gladys Graham Bartley
ATMORE – Mrs. Gladys Graham Bartley, 97, of Atmore, formally of Walnut Hill, Fla., died Sunday March 4, 2007 in Atmore. She was a homemaker, born in Escambia County, Fla. on August 27, 1909 to the late Fred and Harriett Dockens Graham. She was a lifelong member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church, an avid gardener, along with her love for her grandchildren. She loved to quilt for her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Milladge Bartley.
Survivors include: one son, Pete Bartley and wife, Estelle of Bay Minetter; three daughters, Betty Black of Walnut Hill, Fla., Barbara Ann Fitzgerald of Fredericktown, Mo., Martha B. Stacey and husband, Joe of Atmore; one brother, Otis Graham and wife, Peggy of Lillian; three sisters, Mary Mitchell of Atmore, Luverne Graham and Agnes Adams, both of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and a number of great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held today, Wednesday March 7, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Walnut Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Johnny Ryland, Ronnie Ryland, Keefe Faircloth and Edwin Bartley.
Kenneth Wayne Howell
ATMORE – Mr. Kenneth Wayne Howell, 63, of Woods Road in Atmore, passed away Saturday morning, March 3, 2007 at a Mobile Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Howell was a native and life-long resident of Escambia County and had owned and operated Atmore Machine Shop for many years. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Pam Howell of Atmore; one son, Kenneth George (Sherry) Howell of Birmingham; one daughter, Karen Miranda (Rodney) Hale of Selma; three brothers, Renny Howell of Pensacola, Fla., Lavon Howell of Flomaton, and Rondal Howell of Brewton; two sisters, Reva Harper of Brewton and Grace Harris of Brewton; and four grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday, March 05, 2007 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. service time at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Inc.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 5, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Inc with the Rev. Grady Palmer officiating. Interment followed in Catawba Springs Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directed.
Sarah Lou Victor
CHRISTIAN HOME, FLA. – Mrs. Sarah Lou Victor, 81, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2007 at a Santa Rosa hospital.
Mrs. Victor was a native of Perdido, a resident of Christian Home, Fla. for most her life, a Great Care Provider and attended the Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Karl Victor, a daughter, Kathy Victor Hall, her parents, Dewey and Mattie Long, three brothers, J.T. Long, Lewis Long, and Tommie Long, a sisters, Rosie Robertson, two grandchildren, Angel Hall Tony Merchant, and a great-grandson, Blake Owens.
Survivors include: four sons, Phillip Victor of Walnut Hill, Fla., Johnny and Stephanie Victor of Walnut Hill, Fla., Jimmy Victor of Bratt, Fla., and Donnie and Sandra Victor of Wawbeek; three daughters, Janie and Billy Criswell of Christian Home, Fla., Alice and Steve Merchant of Bratt, Fla., Faye Victor of Christian Home, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Long of Christian Home, Fla., and Wesley Long of Pensacola, Fla.; and a sister, Modelle Bryars of Perdido.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. John Shamblin and Bro. Keith Peebles officiating.
Burial will follow at Christian Home Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, March 7, 2007 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Junior Victor, Billy Ray Criswell, Ronnie Merchant, Jesse Hall, John Victor, James Victor, Timothy Victor, and Kenny Maher.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Long, Alfred Long, David Long, Randall Long, Ricky Long, Wayne Long, Ronnie Long, Benjamin Bryars, Wayne Moore, Michael Long, and Jeffery Long.
Mary Byrd
OAK GROVE, FLA. – Mrs. Mary Byrd, 100, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2007 at a local hospital.
Mrs. Byrd was a native of Mineola, a resident of Oak Grove, Fla. for the past 90 years, and a member of the Bratt Assembly of God Church. Preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Jasper H. Byrd.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her son, Troy and Margaret Byrd of Atmore; her daughter, Margie and Terry Gartside of Orlando, Fla.; four grandchildren, Patricia and David Gibbs of Atmore, Ronald Byrd of Atmore, Janet and Ricky Burkett of Mobile, and Bobby and Lisa Byrd of Atmore; and nine great-grandchildren, Ashley Gibbs, Lindsay Gibbs, Stacey Gibbs, Matt Burkette, Zack Burkette, Kayleigh Burkette, Taylor Byrd, Audrey Byrd, and Kristen Byrd.
Funeral services will be held today Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Theron Collinsworth, the Rev. Arnold Hendrix, the Rev. Steve Brecada, and the Rev. Fred Gibbs officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation was held Tuesday, March 6, 2007 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Byrd, Bobby Byrd, David Gibbs, Ricky Burkette, Matt Burkette, and Kevin White.
Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Walker and Jim Riggs.
