Four Northview senior athletes were seen in Pensacola last week. Brandon Walker, Sean Little, Jill Kelley and Misty Lord all participated in high school all-star games.
Walker and Little played in the Pensacola Sports Association All-Star Baseball game and Kelley and Lord were featured in the All-Star Softball game Monday evening at Pelican Park.
Sid Wheatley, head baseball coach at NHS, said he was proud of his guys.
"It was great for them to get recognition like that," Wheatley said. "And they are both great guys on and off the field. We were very excited and proud of them."
Wheatley was at the game Monday afternoon and he said when he left in the seventh inning Walker had gone 2-for-3 with an RBI and Little was 1-for-1 with two walks.
"Not only did these guys play well, but they represented Northview well," Wheatley said.
Walker was named the 2007 Atmore Advance Baseball Player of the Year and batted .436 with four home runs, 28 RBIs, 29 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. Little also made the Advance All-Area team with a .408 average, 18 RBIs, 27 runs scored and 13 stolen bases.
No information was available at press time regarding how Kelley and Lord played, but head softball coach Stephanie Elowsky was proud of the girls being recognized.
"We are very proud of them," Elowsky said. "All of their hard work and dedication all year paid off. We could not have had better girls in the game."
Kelley and Lord were both 2007 Diamond Queens of the Atmore Advance All-Area team. Kelley had a .296 average with one home run, 5 RBIs and 8 runs scored. Lord hit for a .255 average 6 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
