Autumn Corley earned a win in the Escambia Academy Cougars’ final game of the season last Monday.

Corley pitched a complete game allowing eight runs on 11 hits, but recorded six strikeouts, as the Lady Cougars won their finale 11-8 over the Central Christian School Lady Saints.

The match up proved to be tough for the Lady Cougars (11-8), as the Lady Saints built a 4-1 lead in the first inning,  but in the next two innings, EA chipped the deficit down to two runs.

Trailing 5-3, Escambia Academy found a rhythm in the top of the fourth inning jumping to a 9-5 lead courtesy of six runs.

After taking the lead, the Lady Cougars held their advantage adding another run later in the game, while holding the Lady Saints to three more runs to earn the two-run victory.

Lacie Flowers was the catalyst in the Lady Cougars’ victory earning three hits and three RBIs in the win.

Hannah Fountain also had a strong outing for EA with three hits and two RBIs, while Sydney McGhee recorded two hits and two RBIs.

The Lady Cougars also received offensive help from Chelsey Ramer and Page Lancaster with two hits each.

Escambia Aca. 13, Jackson Aca. 3
Escambia Academy’s softball team ran its record to 10-8 on the season last Friday with a big 10-run win over the Jackson Academy Eagles in Canoe.

The Lady Cougars dominated the contest in the late innings to come away with a 13-3 decision.

Facing a 3-0 deficit moving to the bottom of the third, the Lady Cougars quickly went to work scoring five runs in the third inning to take the game’s final lead change.

Escambia Academy was not finished at the plate, as they added four more runs in the fourth inning and closed out the game with five to end the game by a 10-run rule 13-3.

Leading the Lady Cougars was pitcher Allie Brooks who pitched all five innings striking out two batters, while only allowing three runs.
At the plate, Sydney McGhee was a perfect 4-for-4.

Northview 6, Escambia Aca. 5
In a home match up against stateline rival Northview, the Escambia Academy Lady Cougars were edged in a 6-5 contest.

The Lady Cougars (9-8) fought off deficits twice in the match up tying the game at 2 in the second inning and four through the sixth inning.

The Lady Chiefs pulled ahead for the final time in the seventh inning putting two more runs on the board, while the Lady Cougars could only add one more suffering their eighth loss of the season.

Sydney McGhee was the leader for the Lady Cougars notching three hits in the loss.
