Library continues program for children
The Atmore Public Library will continue its summer reading program every Friday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. through July 6.
This Friday, children ages 5-12 will learn clues on safety.
On June 22, children will retrieve nature clues.
On June 29, children will grab clues to freedom and will also have their Fourth of July Parade.
On July 6, children will receive their Super Sleuth Awards.
Games and puzzles and the chance to win prizes can be found at the library's website at www.atmorelibrary.com
The library is also holding a story writing contest and an "I Spy" contest. All entries must be turned in on June 29 in order to participate. Winners will be announced the following week.

Christian Home Free Will Baptist VBS
Christian Home Free Will Baptist Church will be starting revival June 10. Revival times are Sunday at 5:30 p.m. and Monday through Saturday at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Poach Community Church VBS June 18
Poarch Community Church will hold Vacation Bible School from June 18-21 at 7 p.m. nightly. The theme will be: Great Bible Reef, Dive deep into God's word. There will be Bible stories, children's dramas, puppet shows, music, games, crafts and recreation.
All ages are welcome.
First Assembly offers Spanish June 18
First Assembly of God will hold a Conversational Spanish Class on Monday nights at 5:30 starting June 18.
The class will go through July 23. Cost of the class is $12 for the book.
PGBC to begin VBS at 5:30 p.m. June 11
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, located at 3564 Butler Street in Atmore will have Vacation Bible School starting June 11 through June 15 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

The McCullough Friendship Luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. on June 14 at David's Catfish House in Atmore.
Beulah Camp meeting slated June 14
Beulah Camp meeting will be June 14 – 24. Beulah will celebrate 66 years with 10 days of preaching and singing. Services are at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day. Rooms and meals are available to anyone wanting to stay at the camp.
Huxford VFD fish fry scheduled for June 16
The Huxford Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its annual catfish fry from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on June 16 at the fire station on old Front Street in Huxford.
The plates will be $6 with all proceeds going to the fire department. Make plans to attend and thank you for your support.
Master's Men Quartet in concert June 23
The Master's Men Quartet will be in concert at 6:30 p.m. on June 23 at Calvary Baptist Church located at 2121 Jack Spring Road in Atmore.

Sky family in concert June 23 in Walnut Hill
Dry Springs Community Church in Walnut Hill, Fla. will be hosting a gospel singing at 6 p.m. on June 23 featuring the Sky family. Refreshments will be served following the singing.
ACH GoldenCare seminar June 27
Atmore Community Hospital GoldenCare will present a seminar on services and programs available at the Lakeview Center June 27 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Mayson Auditorium.
People handle stresses of life in different ways. While some meet their challenges head-on, others may feel unable to cope. Lakeview Center offers more than 50 treatments and vocational programs to provide solutions for children, teens, adults and seniors.

Martinville Baptist VBS June 30 only
Vacation Bible School will be held for one day only, June 30 at Martinville Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until noon.
Preschool through 6th grade students are invited to enjoy the Gospel programs and activities for four dynamic individuals from the Baptist Association's Summer Ministry youth group. A light lunch will be provided. From Atmore, take Hwy 21 north, go right on Martinville Loop or Martinville Circle and the church is on the right.

Jay Freedom Race slated July 4
Let Freedom Ring! And come run the Celebrate Freedom 5K Race in the small town of Jay, Fla. The race itself is best described as a low-key, very fun and friendly race.
The race will be July 4 at 6 p.m. The 5K will be first and the one mile to follow. The race will be held at Jay City Park.Registration will be held at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the race.

Summer Reading continues until July 6
The Atmore Public Library is having their Summer Reading Program each Friday beginning June 1 through July 6 from 10 a.m until 11 a.m. for children ages 5-12.
Fiddler's Convention slated for July 21
Plans for the 28th annual Atmore Rotary Club Fiddlers Convention are under way.
The event will be held at 2 p.m. on July 21 in the Escambia County High School auditorium. The house band will be "Down Home."
The categories of competition are as follows: vocal groups (acappela is acceptable), bands, dobro, banjo, guitar, mandolin and fiddlers. There is no registration fee. Awards are first place $100, second $75 and third $50 except for fiddlers, which is first $1,000, second $200 and third $100.

Antioch Baptist food service ends Aug. 3
Antioch Baptist Church in Freemanville will be holding a summer food service program beginning June 6 through Aug. 3.
Meal times will be from 11:15 – 11:30. Activities include: volleyball, basketball, checkers and other games from 10 a.m. until noon.

Taste of the South scheduled for Aug. 11
The annual Taste of the South food festival will be held Aug. 11 at Heritage Park.

Geography of the Holy Land Monday nights
The First Assembly of God Berean School of the Bible Study Center will begin a new study course on "Geography of the Holy Land" on Monday nights at 5:30.
The first class began May 7. This will be a four-week course. Anyone interested should call the church office at 368-4637.
Cost for the course is $122. There is an additional $20 charge for first time students.

VFW dances held every Friday night
Friday Night Dances are held at the Atmore VFW Post Veterans of Foreign Wars Friday nights from 7:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. (daylight saving time) and from 6 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. (Central Standard Time).
Dances are open to Post members and the general public as long as participants are registered as a Post member's guest for a donation fee of $5 per person. The Post's band EXIT 54 provides country and rock and roll music.
On special occasions, dance participants enjoy "potluck" finger foods or a dinner.
