Tillman's Corner sweeps field for title

The Tillman's Corner all-stars were perfect last weekend and they defeated Alexander City in the championship game, 12-0, to walk away with the Alabama 12-year-old 70' State Tournament championship trophy Sunday afternoon.
Troy Andrews threw a complete game one-hit shutout for Tillman's Corner, striking out six batters and walking two.
Nick Lowe led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs. Johnathan Brown went 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Christian Purvis and Weston Shoemaker each scored two runs.
Chace Richmond went 1-for-3 with one home run and Troy Andrews, Heath Brown and Cory Tittle each scored one run.
For Alex City, Tyler Wilson had the team's only hit. Craig Crouch and Tomas Foster each saw action on the mound.
Tillman's Corner 5 Florence 4
In the closest game of the tournament for No. 1 seeded Tillman's Corner, No. 4 seeded Florence had them on the ropes, but three runs in the sixth inning provided a 5-4 victory for Tillman's Sunday afternoon.
Chase Richmond of Tillman's Corner and Thomas Burrows of Florence were locked in a 0-0 pitcher's duel until the fifth inning. Richmond had four strikeouts and Burrows tallied seven strikeouts. The runs did not cross the plate for either team until the starting pitchers were taken out. Burrows went four innings for Florence and Tillman's Corner scored two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth off reliever Colby Smith.
Florence scored all four of their runs on Tillman's relievers Kevin Barnett and Troy Andrews in the sixth inning.
Christian Purvis scored two runs for Tillman's Corner and Johnathan Brown, Nick Lowe and Cory Tittle each scored one run. This was also the only game of the tournament Tillman's Corner failed to hit at least one home run as a team.
For Florence, Smith, J. T. Hudson, Burrows and Drew Black each scored one run.
Alex City 10 Monrovia-American 6
It took eight innings, but the No. 3 seeded Alex City all-stars took down the No. 2 seeded Monrovia-American all-stars 10-6 Sunday afternoon.
The teams were knotted at 6-6 after six innings, but Alex City put four runs across the plate in the top of the eighth inning for the victory.
Dalton Taunton went 1-for-3 for Alex City with one home run and two walks. Taylor Wilson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and one stolen base. Tyler Wilson went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. Cameron Blankenship was 3-for-5 with one run scored and Travis Parish, Craig Crouch, Tomas Foster and Blake McClellan each scored one run.
Monrovia saw production from Jones Fuller, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one double and two runs scored. San Tralango was 1-for-3 with one run scored and two walks. Austin McBride scored two runs and Blake Chapman added one run scored.
