Manning guest on today's 'Girl Talk'
Every Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. WNSI 105.9 FM in Atmore features "Girl Talk" hosted by Atmore resident Susan Smith.
Each Wednesday a national, state or local guest of interest will be on the show.
Today Jamie Manning, regional coordinator for All Kids, will be discussing the health insurance program on the show.
"This is an opportunity for parents to find out about insurance for school age children," Smith said.

NHS cheerleaders to hold camp July 21
The Northview High School varsity cheerleaders are sponsoring an event for individuals aspiring to become a cheerleader in future years.
The event on July 21 from 9 a.m. until noon will be for ages 5-14 and the cost is $15 per person. The group will meet in the NHS gym.
Those in attendance will learn different stunts, proper techniques and ways to keep them safe but also will "WOW" the crowd.

First Baptist Church barbeque tonight
The First Baptist Church of Atmore will hold a church-wide cookout tonight at 6 p.m. in the courtyard.
Please bring a covered dish to share. The famous "Walt Butler B-B-Q" will be provided. Cost: $2 per adult and $1 per child (under 12). Sign up in the church office if you plan to attend.
County meeting slated for July 19
The Escambia County Community Punishment &Corrections Authority will conduct a meeting July 19 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers of the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton.
Friendship Club meeting July 19
McCullough Friendship Club will hold its luncheon July 19 at 11 a.m. at David's Catfish House.
NWE football registration July 21
Registration for NWE football begins July 21 and will continue July 28 at the Ernest Ward Middle School football field. Registration will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

There will be a benefit horse show for the Braddock Family at Ted May Arena, Hwy 4 in Jay, Fla. July 21. Exhibitions start at 1 p.m.

Mineola Baptist Homecoming July 22
Homecoming will be held at Mineola Baptist Church July 22 with worship service beginning at 10:30 a.m. The guest speaker will be Alben Gaston, Associate Pastor of Woodbridge Baptist Church in Mobile. Dinner on the grounds will be followed by a singing performance by Jimmy and Debbie Roberts and the Glory Road Quartet. Pastor, Marlon Brown, invites everyone to attend.

Reid State Nursing applications due July 23
Fall Semester application deadline for Practical Nursing at Reid State Technical College is July 23. Fall semester applicants for the Practical Nursing program are required to have application packets complete and in student services by July 23. A complete packet includes a nursing application, a Reid State admission application, transcripts of prior high school and college coursework, and admission test scores.

Commission meeting scheduled for July 23
The Escambia County Commission will conduct an adjourned regular session July 23 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, room 201, at the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton. The Administrative Workshop will be held July 19 at 9 a.m.

"Connections," a newly organized ministry for families of prisoners, will meet July 26 at the Hospitality House in Atmore. New Home Church concert July 27
"The Proclaimers Quartet" of Columbus, Ga., will be in concert at the New Home Church near Monroeville July 27. Barbeque pork and chicken plates will be served beginning at 5 p.m. at $6, which includes two vegetables and dessert. Carry-outs will be available. The singing will begin at 7 p.m. and Revs. Kenneth Johnson and Thomas Smith invite everyone to attend.

Antioch Baptist food service ends Aug. 3
Antioch Baptist Church in Freemanville will be holding a summer food service program from June 6 through Aug. 3.

VFW hosts Friday night dances
Friday Night Dances at the VFW are open to the general public for a donation of $5 per participant. Country and soft rock music for dancing is provided by the VFW's FREEDOM BAND. If you like good, clean and safe fun, the VFW Post located at 206 West Ashley Street is the place to be on Friday nights from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. "Pot luck" finger food and suppers are scheduled occasionally in conjunction with the dances to add to the merriment.
Remember the VFW Post in Atmore is the place to be on Friday nights.
