Bill Yates has taken over the spotlight at Peebles as he began his first day as manager last Tuesday.
Although Yates is new to the Atmore Peebles, he is not new to the Peebles and Moores chain.
He said he made several moves when he worked with Moores. He started in Geneva, has spent some time in Crestview, Fla. and in 1984 he took over the store in Monroeville. In 1989 Yates moved to Bay Minette where he worked at Moores for five years. He then went back to Monroeville, was there for the conversion from Moores to Peebles and from Monroeville he came to Atmore.
"I felt like this was an opportunity to advance myself and my family," Yates said. "I thought Atmore would be a nice place to live."
Though Yates is making the drive to Atmore from Monroeville, he does plan to move to the Atmore area in the future.
Yates said so far he has enjoyed his time working in Atmore and he said the city's residents have been nothing but kind to him.
"I really enjoy the people here," he said. "A lot of people have been in to welcome me. It seems like a great place to live."
Yates is married to Cindy and has two children, 14-year old Alyssa and 23-year-old Drew. He is originally from Samson, which is in Geneva County.
