David Albert Jr.
ATMORE – David Albert Jr., 59, passed away on July 30, 2007. He was born June 13, 1948 to the union of David Albert Sr. and Eula Mae Dortch Albert in Little Rock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Albert Etheridge and Sharon Denise James and one brother, John Henry Albert.
He confessed Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized in 1979 at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Alexandria, La. by the late Rev. H.M. Booze. He was a dedicated church member, serving faithfully as a senior usher, special events cook and assistant prop master for church dramatic productions. Upon his return to Atmore in 2002, he united with the Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Freddie Banks and continued his faithful service to the Lord. He served as treasurer of the male chorus, vice president of the Kitchen Committee and was a former member of the Usher Board.
David was a graduate of Escambia County Training School in Atmore. He joined the United States Army on March 9, 1969, and was honorably discharged on Dec. 3, 1969. Upon release from the military, he secured a job with Shell Oil Company and was relocated to Nacogdoches, Texas and later Alexandria, La. He retired from Shell as a seismographic technician with 23 years of service. In 1994, David accepted a position with the City of Alexandria Sanitation Department where he remained until the family decided to return to his hometown of Atmore.
He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories: a devoted, caring, and loving wife of almost 37 years, Dorothy Hall Albert of Atmore; his children, Lisa Albert Ford (Christopher) and Gregory Albert (Carolyn "Lynn"), both of Stockton, David "D.J." Albert, III of Atmore and Melinda Ross of Wichita, Ks., adopted children, Keontae "Twista" Long-Albert, Faye Bolden (Chad), Theresa Hall-White (Walter), LeDon Hall, Scottie "Squirt" Hall (Godson), Christopher Hall, all of Atmore; and Ebony, Tammy, and Jamie Flournoy of Alexandria, La.; three very special grandchildren, Jonathan "J.T." Albert, Decorean Albert, and Felicia "Honey" Albert; 12 additional loving grandchildren; three sisters, Pastor Helen Powell (Willie) of Pascagoula, Miss., Pinkie Lawson and Mary D. Johnson (Edward), both of Atmore; four brothers, Rick Wiggins, Randy Wiggins, Frederick James, and Jimmy Brown, all of Atmore; a very devoted mother-in-law, Selma Scott (Alex) of Central, Fla.; nine sisters-in-law; 10 brothers-in-law; devoted friends, Aaron and Brenda Hinkston of Alexandria, La., William "Fifty" Robinson, Charles Brown and Clarence Henderson, all of Atmore; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church family.
Funeral services were held Aug. 7, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church with Pastor Freddie Banks officiating.
Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery. Repast followed at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Baptist Church after the interment.
Active pallbearers were: Marvin Lawson, Aaron Hinkston, III, Scottie Hall, Gary L. Powell and Christopher Hall
Honorary pallbearers were: Gregory Albert, David Albert, III, Christopher Ford, Donnie Johnson, Willie Powell Jr. and Claude Brown.
Flower bearers were family and friends.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Anthony Lamonte' Moore
HUNTSVILLE – Anthony Lamonte' Moore was born December 26, 1975 to Beverly Suarez and the late Larry Payne. Anthony accepted Christ as his Saviour at an early age and was a member of Second Saint Siloam Baptist Church.
Anthony graduated from T.R. Miller High School in 1995. As a child he enjoyed the game of football. His love for the game started as a mini-mite and continued through all the Brewton Area Youth Football Leagues. In 1994 he helped the T.R. Miller Tigers win the State Championship game.
Anthony was employed with DRS Technologies of Huntsville. His devotion to his career led him to achieve the rank of Lead Union Representative. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Anthony was a devoted son, brother, nephew, friend, father and uncle. Sadly he will be missed by all of his loved ones. He leaves the cherish his memory his loving mother, Beverly Suarez of Brewton; step-father, Eric Suarez of Brewton; two children, and daughter, Amber Moore of Huntsville and a son, Jaylon Moore of Union Springs; also a step-daughter, Quiyana Guice and god-daughter, Takeysia McFugerson. He also leaves to cherish a devoted brother and sister-in-law, Tristan and Keisha Moore of Huntsville; a caring sister, Akia Suarex of Huntsville; grandparents, Jimmy and Dorothy Payne of Brewton; Six aunts, Cynthia Moore of Brewton, Janice Boyd of Los Angles, Calif., Jewel Boyd of Atlanta, Ga., Clara Katina (Michael) of Ft. Drum, N.Y., Brenda Parker of Philadelphia, Pa., and Paula Howard (Johnny) of Atlanta, Ga.; five uncles, Herbert Boyd of Opelika, Christopher Boyd of Huntsville, Myron Payne, David Payne and Justin Payne all of Brewton; seven great aunts, on special, Gail McNeal; one niece, three nephews and a host of other cousins and friends.
Services were held Aug. 6, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church in Brewton. Pastor W.J. Blue officiated. Active pallbearers were the T.R. Miller High School football team of 1995. Honorary pallbearers were the co-workers of DRS Technologies. Flower attendants were the class of 1995. Interment was at the Baptist Hill Cemetery. All arrangements are entrusted to Christian Memorial Funeral Home of Atmore.
John Cooler
BARTH, Fla. – Mr. John Cooler, 34, of Barth, Fla. died Aug. 7, 2007 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
Services are to be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel.
Tina Ann Jay Edge
URIAH – Tina Ann Jay Edge, 37, of Uriah died Aug. 5, 2007 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Uriah and was a member of the Rocky Hill Baptist Church. She was a nurse.
She is preceded in death by three children, T.J. Morace, Brittany Morace and Tristan Morace.
She is survived by: her husband, Richard Edge; her parents, Stintson and Barbara Jay of Uriah; three brothers, Vince (Carmen) Jay, Malcom (Sherry) Jay, and John Jay; one sister, Vivian (Troy) Hahn; seven nieces and nephews; four great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Aug. 7, 2007 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Aug. 8, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Rocky Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jesse Bohannon and the Rev. Pete Dunn officiating. Interment will be immediately following in the Rocky Hill Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
Lillie English
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie English, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Atmore will be held on Aug. 11, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church (Freemanville) in Atmore. Interment will be held in the Mt. Shiloh Cemetery in Nokomis.
Mrs. English will lie in state at the church for public viewing from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
Alice Faye Hall
ATMORE – Ms. Alice Faye Hall, 57, of Atmore died Aug. 6, 2007 at Atmore Community Hospital.
Services are to be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel.
Mellie Louise Garrett Little Hayes
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Mrs. Mellie Louise Garrett Little Hayes, 76, passed away Aug. 5, 2007. Mrs. Hayes was residing in Pensacola, Fla. and was a long time resident of Atmore. She was retired from Vanity Fair Mills after 36 years of dedicated service. She was an active member of Unity Baptist Church in Canoe until she moved to Pensacola. Her greatest accomplishment in life was being a devoted mother to her two sons, their wives and grandchildren.
Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy McAdory Little, her second husband, Harold Hayes, her parents, Leon Mcarland and Sadie Rhodes Garrett; her stepmother, Catherine Lucinda Garrett; three sisters, Audrey Mae Garrett Martin, Julia Katherine Garrett Luke and Gillian Lucinda Garrett, and five brothers, Edward Dorsey "Buddie" Garrett, Wayne Benjamin Garrett, Dolton Mearland Garrett, Anthony Allen Garret and an unnamed brother.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by her two sons, Larry Guy Little and wife, Rita (Blackburn) who reside in Pensacola, Fla. and Charles Alfred Little and his wife Tammy (Floyd) who reside in Lake Wales, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jonathan Guy Little, Garrett Lee Little, Emily Lauren Little, Heidi Rene Little and Rebekah Kate Litte; two brothers, Leon Lamar Garrett of Red Level and Avis Jefferson (Gennie) Garrett of Grand Bay; three sisters, Arte Mae Garrett Brown of Bay Minette, Barbara Ann Garrett (Steve) D'Andrea of Bay Minette and Frances Adell Garrett (Ray) Fowler of Atmore.
Visitation was held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 7, 2007 at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore with the interment to follow at Pine Barren Baptist Church in Bratt, Fla. The service will be officiated by her son, the Rev. Charles Little.
Billy Jarrell
RABUN – Mr. Billy Jarrell, 66, passed away Aug. 6, 2007 in Rabun.
Mr. Jarrell was a native of Uriah, and a resident of Rabun for the past 21 years. He was a loving daddy and grandfather and he attended the Baptist Church. Predeceased by his wife, Lora Faye Jarrell.
Survivors include: four sons, John Jarrell of Kissimmie, Fla., Billy Jarrell of Mobile, Clifton Smith of Rabun, and Chris Stacey of Rabun; seven daughters, Sarah Jarrell of Bay Minette, Sandra Bundy of Bay Minette, Wanda Smith of Atmore, Tammy Cooper of Bay Minette, Ann Williamson of Rabun; 22 grandchildren; her brother, Douglas and Carol Jarrell of Ark.; three sisters, Jean and Turner Brooks of Atmore, Sara Brooks of Atmore and Sadie Jones and Ark.
Funeral services will be held Aug. 8, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the New Providence Baptist Church with Sister Helen Stewart officiating.
Burial will follow at Dean Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Visitation was held Aug. 7, 2007 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the New Providence Baptist Church.
Audrey Sherlene Crook
ATMORE – Miss Audrey Sherlene Crook, 63, of Atmore died Friday, July 27, 2007 in Atmore. She was born in Atmore on Dec. 20, 1943 to the late James Wheeler and Lettie Mae Weaver Crook, Sr.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and three brothers.
Survivors are: one brother, Charles Crook of Atmore; wife, Aurora, of Atmore and a special friend and caretaker, Deloris Rawls of Atmore.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at 10 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Elder James E. Powell officiating. Interment will follow in McCullough Cemetery.
Active pallbearers: Barney Ray Shipp, Kent Wasdin, Curtis Crook, Jimmy Crook, Devin Wally, Shelby Nall.
Family received friends Tuesday evening, July 31, 2007 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Dannie Mae Montgomery
SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. – Funeral services for Mrs. Dannie Mae Montgomery, 94, of Sierra Vista, Ariz., formerly of Atmore will be held on Aug. 10, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Gaines Chapel A.M.E Church with the Rev. Joseph Williams, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in the Stallworth Cemetery.
Mrs. Montgomery will lie instate for public viewing from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.
Sonja Michelle Viita Morgan
CENTURY, Fla. – Ms. Sonja Michelle Viita Morgan, 39, passed away Aug. 5, 2007 in Century, Fla.
Ms. Morgan was a native of Portsmouth, Va., a resident of Century, Fla. for most of her life and attended the Faith Bible Baptist Church. Predeceased in death by her father, Jerry Wayne Viita, a sister, Lissa Sigler and her paternal grandmother, Doris Bennet.
Survivors include: her parents, Arnold and Teen Weaver of Century, Fla.; two brothers, Rev. Sam and Holly Weaver of Calhoun, Ga., and John and Lisa Weaver of Pensacola, Fla.; her grandparents, Helen and Ezra McCraney of Century, Fla.; a special aunt, Linda Sue Carlton of Flomaton and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Aug. 8, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Barrow officiating.
Visitation was held Aug. 7, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Ricky Burris, Chad Burris, Will Stuckey, Mancus Godwin, Roger Burkett and Keith Moore.
Austin Taylor
ATMORE – Mr. Austin Taylor, 87, of Atmore died Aug. 3, 2007 at his residence. He was a retired farmer, born in Booneville on Dec. 17, 1919 to the late Oscar and Agnes Coon Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a Army WWII Veteran.
He is preceded in death by a son, Albert Austin Taylor, a grandson, Edwin Austin Taylore and a great-grandson, Matthew Baisden.
Survivors are: his wife, Callie Johnson Taylore of Atmore; three sons, Teak Taylor and wife Bobbie, of Atmore, Kenneth Taylor and wife, Patsy of Brewton, Rod Taylor and wife, Joann of Uriah; one daughter, Sheila Pugh and husband, Steve of Oak Grove, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Taylor of Atmore; one brother, James Taylor of Brewton; one sister, Margene Allen of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Ernest Johnson of Brewton; one sister-in-law, Ethel Seals of Milton, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 6, 2007 at 10 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Dukes officiating. Interment followed in McCullough Cemetery. Active pallbearers were: Jason Taylor, Justin Taylor, Stephen Pugh II, Clinton Pugh, Jimmy Baisden and Shannon Taylor.
Family received friends, Sunday evening, Aug. 5, 2007 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
