EA raising money for field house
The time of year is getting close and the Escambia Academy athletic department is selling Fraser Fur Christmas Trees. They are raising money to go toward a new field house. Please help the school's athletes, they thank you for your support.

EA is asking that elementary students sell at least one tree and one wreath. Middle and high school students are asked to sell two trees and one wreath. EA athletes are required to sell at least three trees and one wreath. The more trees and wreaths sold, the better for the school. The school needs the orders turned in by Oct. 22.
Pick up dates are tentatively set for Nov. 16-21.

AFD lifts burn ban, holds pre-fire plans
The Atmore Fire Department is lifting the burn ban. Also, the department is doing pre-fire plans all over the city at local businesses. They are going in each business, getting contact numbers and checking potentially hazardous spots including electrical switches and pull boxes, etc.

St. Jude's benefit Oct. 17 at Chilly's
Atmore's Poor Man Outdoors will host its inaugural Kids Hunting for a Cure fundraiser to benefit St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital on Oct. 17 at Chilly's off Hwy. 31 in Atmore.
All proceeds made at Chilly's on Oct. 17 will be donated to St. Jude's to take ailing children to go hunting Oct. 26-27 in Fayetteville, Tenn.
"Connections" to meet on Oct. 18
Anyone who has a relative or friend in prison is encouraged to attend the Oct. 18 meeting of "Connections." This newly organized support group will meet at 3 p.m. at the Hospitality House located on the corner of Church Street and Medical Park Drive in Atmore.
Turtle Point Open House slated Oct. 20
The Turtle Point Science Center will hold an open house Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Come meet the creepy crawlies at Turtle Point and have a 'spooktacular' time making Halloween crafts!

Robinsonville holding Relay carnival Oct. 20
Robinsonville Baptist Church will hold their Relay for Life Fall Carnival Oct. 20 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
There will be fun activities including, a hayride, bobbing for apples, digging for gold, sucker table and fish pond for children under 3 years old, face painting and spacewalk. All activities are free for children under 12.
Food includes hotdogs or hamburgers, chips and a drink for $4, pickles for $1, cotton candy for $0.50, popcorn for $0.50 and snow cones for $1. The ongoing fundraiser includes candy bars for $1 and in-house quilt squares 4X4 for $5.
On Nov. 16 there will be gumbo/chili dinners.
Bratt Assembly of God homecoming Oct. 21

Sardis homecoming scheduled for Oct. 21
Sardis Baptist Church established July, 1865 will be celebrating its Homecoming on Oct. 21. Betty Warren tourney scheduled Oct. 27
Thehe inaugural Betty Warren Invitational Tennis Tournament on Williams Station Day, Oct. 27 starting at 9 a.m. There will be an A and B Division for both male and female. Bethel homecoming scheduled for Oct. 28
Bethel United Methodist Church, Hwy. 21, Atmore, homecoming will be Oct. 28 beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Jean Spikes will be the guest speaker.
This is a special homecoming for the congregation. The old sanctuary has been restored and will be dedicated on this day. Dinner will follow the morning service. The Rev. Delsa Mock and members invites friends, relatives and former members to attend.

The coalition against C&S Chemicals locating on Woods Road in Atmore holds a meeting every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at New Order Baptist Church.
PCI requests quotes for annual Pow Wow
PCI's 37th annual Pow Wow is scheduled for Nov. 22-23. They would like to extend to you the opportunity to assist them by providing a quote for the development and printing of the annual program, which will include Tribal history, information and pictures of the Tribal Council and Pow Wow committee, pictures and bios of head staff (master of ceremonies, arena director and host drums), information and photos of princess contest and outgoing senior princess, general Pow Wow information, schedule of events and ads (full page, half page, and quarter page).

Chamber needs patrons of the arts
Consider this your invitation to be a Patron of the Arts. Patrons commit to spend $100 at Williams Station Day with the artists. Here's how the program works. You give the Chamber of Commerce your check for $100. On the day of the event Oct. 27, the Chamber will give you scrip in the amount of $100 which you will spend with the artists. At the close of the day, the artists bring collected scrip to the Chamber booth where it is exchanged for cash. Patrons are also invited to a fabulous party on Friday evening with great food, drink and entertainment at the home of a local Atmore artist. Call the Chamber at 368-3305.

The Concerned Citizens of Atmore Civil Club meet every third Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at 313 N. Main St.
County school system seeks information
In accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) Part B of 2004, the Escambia County School System seeks to locate and identify children ages' birth through 21, who because of handicapping conditions, may be in need of special education and/or related services. Referral and evaluation may begin at 30 months for preschoolers.

Friday night dances at VFW open to public
Friday Night Dances at the VFW are open to the general public for a donation of $5 per participant. Country and soft rock music for dancing is provided by the VFW's FREEDOM BAND. If you like good, clean, safe fun, the VFW Post located at 206 W. Ashley Street is the place to be on Friday nights from 7:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. "Pot luck" finger food and suppers are scheduled occasionally in conjunction with the dances to add to the merriment. Remember the VFW Post in Atmore is the place to be on Friday nights.
