It's that time of year again, time to roll back the calendar and honor the past.
Friday, Pensacola Avenue will fill with visiting artists, crafters and food vendors setting up for Saturday's annual Williams Station Day festival, a day designated each year for residents and visitors to celebrate the history of our town.
The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce has hosted Williams Station Day for 15 consecutive years proving that the city has taken pride in its heritage. Not only do festivities such as Williams Station Day give the community something to do on a Saturday, but it also brings the community together as a whole to pay tribute to Atmore's rich history.
The women behind the festival, Emilie Mims and Shelly Williams, with the help of the Chamber Board and numerous volunteers have successfully put on the event for years. From what we've heard here at the Advance, this year's event sounds like it will be one of the best with great entertainment and, of course, finger-licking good food.
In today's edition of the Advance readers can thumb through the 16th annual Williams Station Day special tabloid edition, which features numerous stories on this year's event including entertainment and activities as well as an event calendar, pictures from last year's event and of course advertisements from supportive Atmore businesses, which have made the edition possible since 1992 when the event was first celebrated.
The staff at the Advance put forth a lot of hard work and dedicated a lot of time into making the special section informative and entertaining to our readers.
