ATMORE – Sister Adell Skipper was born Aug. 8, 1938 in Pineapple to the late John and Adell Carter. Adell later moved to the beautiful city of Atmore where she became employed with the City of Atmore where she was recently retired in Dec. of 2011 after 28 years of service.

Adell affectionately known as “Arma” was known for her cooking, she loved the kitchen in any facility and the kitchen loved her. Her next most enjoyable hobby was fishing. Adell was a devoted and outstanding member of the Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served as President of the pastor’s aide (her pride and joyc), member of both Gospel and senior choir; she was the ensemble coordinator for the senior choir, and most of all she was the Culinary Specialist for Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church. Adell believed in leadership, and o much loved and cared for her pastor, she was one that when she spoke her voice was heard and obeyed. Never complained nor grumbled, but maintained her positions until death, believing that serving the Lord will pay off after while.

She transitioned from time to eternity at the age of 73 on Monday, June 25, 2012 at North Baldwin Infirmary.

Two sisters, Lucy (Alfred) Thomas and Gussie Blankenship; five brothers, John Carter, J.D. Carter, Henry (Betty Jean) Carter and Mack Carter and two precious friends, Sister Daisy McKenzie and Mother Mary Maude DeB’ose Sills preceded her in death.

Those left to cherish her memories are a loving, caring and devoted daughter, Diana (Jeffery) Wilson Sr. of Atmore; three devoted brothers, Isaiah “Frog” (Mary) Carter, Robert “Pip” Ephraim and Bishop Dr. Willie L. Williams, all of Atmore; one sister, Betty Lyons of Pensacola; two adopted sons, Bernard L. Bryant of Atmore and Prophet Willie Lashawn (Fekeshia) Williams of Mobile; three devoted and special grandchildren whom she adored and loved dearly, Kadeem Grubbs, Desmond Grubbs and Jeffery Wilson Jr., all of Atmore; sister-in-laws, Elder Linda Carter and Carolyn Carter, both of Atmore; special and devoted nephews, Kyler (Karen) Carter, of Pensacola, Fla. and Corey (Trinika) Carter of Virginia; special cousin, elder Leroy (Lula) Knight Sr.; special friends to reflect her precious memories, Mayor howard Shell, Missionary Shelby Rudolph, Sister Ollie Knight, Deaconess Mary Pointdexter, Sister Frances Dailey and Missionary Patricia Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Home going services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Jones Street True Pentecostal holiness Church with Bishop Dr. Willie L. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Family Hour will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Chapel of Mayberry Funeral home in Atmore.
