Apostle True Doctrine revival continues
Apostle True Doctrine will be having a Holy Ghost Deliverance Revival March 3-7 at 7:30 p.m. nightly.
Faith Church holds pastor appreciation
Faith Pentecostal will hold appreciation for Bishop Purvis McMillan March 5-7 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Climaxing will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 9. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Baptist meeting slated for March 6
The Escambia Baptist Association’s annual WMU/WOM banquet will be held March 6 at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Flomaton. Guest speakers include Charlotte Wyckoff and Gypsy Mahaffey from Huntsville. They will be portraying Annie Armstrong and Nannie.
Bring personal care items for the mission project. The items will be used for the Associational trip to Reynosa, Mexico. Items include quart size zip-lock bags, prepacked, containing toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, dental floss, deodorant and hand lotion.
The Greater Brewton Habitat for Humanity kicked off its "Mission Possible" project March 1 at 7 a.m.
The goal is to build a house in one week, with the home dedication ceremony set for March 8 at 11:30 a.m. This Habitat home is being built for the Woods family at 720 Brandenburg St. in East Brewton. Over 160 volunteers have pre-registered to help with this project, including a large group of students and faculty from WS Neal High School, a group of students from Weidner University in Pennsylvania and recording artists Rusty Golden and William Lee Golden of the Oak Ridge Boys. Pre-registration is not required. Volunteers are welcome to drop by the construction site March 1-7 from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Lunches, snacks, drinks and tools are provided.
HIV/AIDS prevention proposals limit nears
The Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control of the Alabama Department of Public Health is soliciting proposals for HIV/AIDS prevention services promoting school and community partnerships for the prevention of HIV/AIDS in youth/adolescents. The proposals must be statewide in scope.

Health awareness day slated March 8
The J F Shields/MCTS Alumni Association is sponsoring a Community Health Awareness Day on March 8 from 8 a.m. until noon. Information will be available for law enforcement officers, high school counselors and health department nurses will be on site checking your blood pressure among other things.

Children’s Home hosts fundraiser
Children's Home Society's third annual "A Sunday of Soundside Splendor" will be held on Sunday, March 9 from 4pm-7pm at Portofino Island Resort. This premier event features exclusive tastings of fine reserve champagne and wines paired with the exquisite cuisine of Fish House chef Jim Shirley. Commission to meet March 10 in Brewton
Please take notice that the Escambia County Commission will conduct a regular session on March 10 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, Room 201, at the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton. The Administrative Workshop will be held March 6 at 8:30 a.m.
Ingram hosts oil painting classes
Margie Ingram will be hosting oil painting classes on March 10, 17 and 24. The classes will be held at Vikki Day’s Gallery 106 W. Ridgeley St. in Atmore from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
The cost of the classes is $70 and that will include supplies for all three days.
Education retirees to meet March 13
The regular meeting of the Escambia County Education Retirees will be held March 13 at the W.S. Neal High School library in East Brewton at 11 a.m. The guest speaker for this meeting will be John Paul Jones, AERA District 8 Director.
All education retirees on any academic level and all persons interested in public education are invited to attend this meeting.
Rachel Patterson to hold registration
Rachel Patterson Elementary School will hold Kindergarten registration March 14 and March 28, starting at 8 a.m.
Parents are urged to come and register their children entering kindergarten this fall. Parents are asked to bring their child's birth certificate, social security card and blue shot record when registering their child.
United Bank to host softball tourney
A co-ed softball tournament sponsored by the United Bank Relay for Life Team will be held at 8 a.m. March 15 at Tom Byrne Park. Age limit is 16 and up. There will be a grand prize of $200 and door prizes will be given away. Entry Deadline is at noon March 7.

Historical society selling ornaments
The Atmore Historical Society still has 2006 and 2007 Atmore Commemorative ornaments for sale for $10 each. The 2006 ornament features an artist's rendering of old Escambia County High School (circa 1926) on Pensacola Avenue. Today that building houses the YMCA.
The 2007 ornament features a replica of the official decal of Atmore's centennial celebration. The ornaments are available by contacting Hattie Maxwell at 368-4608. The next meeting of the Historical Society is March 17 at 6 p.m. at the Peavy – Webb Building in Heritage Park.
Bay Springs church hosts fourth singing
Bay Springs Full Gospel Church will host their fourth Saturday night singing March 22 at 6 p.m. Local singers, Bro. Andy Lollie and the congregation welcome everyone to attend.
Relay for Life slated for April 26 at ECHS
Atmore’s Relay for Life will be held April 26. The theme for this year’s event is “cancer has no borders.” Each team has chosen a country that also has Relay for Life and will incorporate that country into decorations and food.
The event will be held at Escambia County High School.
