Willie J. Rabb
ATMORE - Mr. Willie J. Rabb Sr., 76, of Atmore and a native of Wilcox County died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Baptist Manor in Pensacola, Fla. He was a graduate of Escambia County Training School in Atmore and he served in the United States Armed Forces. He was a retiree of 33 years in the Vydyne Department at Monsanto/Solutia in Pensacola, Fla. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Atmore and he was a Mason.
His parents, Bob Rabb and Rosie Rabb, and his wife, Annie Mae Rabb, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, three daughters, Debra Ann Rabb of Crestview, Fla., Clordia Coleman-Lee of Atmore and Laguanda Lindsey of Montgomery; three sons, Willie J. Rabb Jr. of Atmore, Curtis Coleman of Birmingham and Gerome Mixon of Century, Fla.; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Liberty Missionary Church in Atmore with the Rev. Lucious Fair officiating. Inhumation will follow in Stallworth cemetery.
Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore will be directing.
Alma B. Rushing
ATMORE - Alma B. Rushing, 93, of Atmore died Sunday, March 9, 2008 in Atmore.
She was a cutting supervisor for Vanity Fair Mills, born in Huxford on May 19, 1914 to the late James Henry and Francis Carter Brown Boone. Her husband, Chet Rushing, preceded her in death.
Survivors include, two sons, C. Winston Rushing and wife, Dorothy, of Gainesville, Fla. and Charles A. Rushing of Brewton; two daughters, Nell Bryars and Mary King, both of Atmore; one brother, Rudie Boone of Saraland; five grandchildren, Kelly Coleman of Lubbock, Texas, Jason Long of Tallahassee, Fla., Bo Bryars of Stockton, Julie Fretwell of Atmore and Dawn Rushing-King of Washington D.C. and 13 great grandchildren.
Graveside services were held March 11, 2008 in Oak Hill cemetery. Family received friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Charles Clifford Smith
ATMORE - Charles Clifford Smith, 83, of Atmore died Friday, March 7, 2008 in Atmore.
He was a warehouse attendant with Brookley Field Air Force Base, born in Lottie on Sept. 19, 1942 to the late Rufus Joseph and Versie Stanley Smith.
Survivors include, his wife Margaret Smith of Atmore; two brothers, Kenneth Smith and Grady K. Smith of Cantonment, Fla. and one sister, Diana Burns of Ohio.

Kathryn Lynn Hill
BREWTON - Kathryn Lynn Hill, 54, of Brewton passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008 in Pensacola, Fla. with her loving sisters at her side. She was born on Aug. 3, 1953 in Pensacola, Fla. Her parents, Billy and Orene Hill of Brewton, preceded her in death.
Survivors include, two sisters, Charlotte Hill of Brewton and Terry Kaylor (Jeff) of Daytona Beach, Fla.; one brother, Richard Hill (Susan) of Portsmouth, Va.; nephews, John Hill and Chris Kaylor of Elberta; her niece, Laura Fleming (Tony) of Maryland; her aunts, Vivian Weaver and Rudine Garrett (Verlyn) of Brewton and her uncles, James Hill (Mary) of Sumter, S.C.
She was educated in the public school of Brewton and was a 1971 graduate of T.R. Miller High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in arts from the University of South Alabama and a master’s degree in criminal justice from Troy University. After receiving her college degrees, Kathy began work as an Escambia County Juvenile Probation Officer. Later she became a social worker and program supervisor with the Escambia County Department of Human Resources. After her retirement from DHR, she was a consultant with the Alabama Department of Human Resources, the Children’s Bureau of Washington, D.C. and the Escambia Regional Child Advocacy Center in Brewton.
Kathy was a tireless advocate for the safety and protection of children. She will long be remembered for her work with federal, state and local agencies to develop programs to prevent child abuse of children in troubled families. She found permanent placements for children who could not safely return to their homes. In her final days of suffering Kathy continued to worry and speak about the needs of the children who still need protection. Kathy did not have children of her own, but she was the mother and protector of thousands of God’s children. America has lost a special human being in Kathy Hill. Her advocacy for children left a huge footprint on this earth during her short lifetime.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Thomas Sunnenberg and the staff of St. Catherine’s Oncology Unit at Sacred Heart hospital in Pensacola, Fla. for their kindness and professionalism over the last several years.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008 at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton. Memorials may be sent to the Escambia Regional Advocacy Center in Brewton or to the charity of choice.
Mary Powe Montgomery
DETROIT, Mich. - Mrs. Mary Powe Montgomery, 75, of Detroit, Mich. and a native of Wilcox County died Monday, March 3, 2008 in Detroit. She had attended school at Camden Academy High School. She was a member of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Detroit where she served on the Pastor’s Courtesy Club, Sunday school and she sang in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie, who passed away on Feb. 18, 2008; her parents, J and Rosie M. Power; brothers, Cuff and Louis Kennedy of Cory, Willie Powe Slidell of Louisiana, twin brother Joseph Powe of Winter Garden, Fla. and a sister, Pearlie M. Knight of Atmore.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, two sons, Tommie Jr. and Cecil Montgomery, both of Detroit, Mich.; three grandchildren, Takisham, Cecil Jr. and Thomas; three great grandchildren, Kiara, Shannon and Ivy; four nieces, Arcile Knight of Atmore, Geneva (Charles) Knight-Young of Pascagoula, Miss., Bernice Sutton of Cincinnati, Ohio and Bertha (Robert) Gahagen of Brooklyn, N.Y. and a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Detroit with Frank Raines III, Pastor, officiating. Interment was held in the Lincoln Memorial Park cemetery in Clinton Township, Mich.

Tommie Montgomery
DETROIT, Mich. - Mr. Tommie Montgomery, 79, of Detroit, Mich. and a native of Wilcox County, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008 in Detroit. He had attended school at Camden Academy. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1951 to 1953 serving in the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Detroit Diesel Allison with more than 30 years of work. He was an avid baseball and football fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.C. and Jessie Montgomery; his brothers, D.C. Jr., Johnnie Lee and James Montgomery and his sister, Theresa M. McDole.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Mary Montgomery of Detroit, Mich.; two sons, Tommie Jr. and Cecil Montgomery both of Detroit, Mich.; three grandchildren, Takisham, Cecil Jr. and Thomas; three great grandchildren, grandchildren, Kiara, Shannon and Ivy; four nieces, Arcile Knight of Atmore, Geneva (Charles) Knight-Young of Pascagoula, Miss., Bernice Sutton of Cincinnati, Ohio and Bertha (Robert) Gahagen of Brooklyn, N.Y. and a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008 at the Chapel of James H. Cole Home for Funerals with the Rev. Patrick Gahagen officiating. Interment followed in the Lincoln Memorial Park cemetery in Clinton Township, Mich.

FLOMATON - Mr. Waman Davis, 92, of Atmore died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.
Christian Memorial Funeral Home of Atmore will be directing.
Cleo Broughton Hardy
BREWTON - Mr. Cleo Broughton Hardy, 86, of Brewton died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at D.W. McMillan Hospital.
Services will be announced by Turner Funeral Chapel.
