Anderson: You have to eat right to live

(This week The Atmore Advance spotlights 78-year-old Veola Anderson.)
Q: When and where were you born?
A: I was born on Aug. 7, 1928. I will be 79 in August. I was born in a little place called Freemanville.
Q: Who were your parents?
A: Adeller Anderson.
Q: Where were your parents from?
A: Purdue Hill.
Q: What did your parents do for a living?
A: They just did different jobs.
Q: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
A: I had five sisters and two brothers. I don’t have any now.
Q: Where did you attend school?
A: Escambia County Training School in Atmore.
Q: Do you do a lot of traveling?
A: Oh yes.
Q: Where all have you traveled?
A: I have been several places.
Q: Out of the many places you visited, what was your favorite?
A: I like Nashville, Tenn.
Q: Where did you work?
A: Nowhere, I worked housework.
Q: Where have you lived?
A: Freemanville and here.
Q: What do you like most about Atmore?
A: I just like it because it’s Atmore. I come up to the SAIL Center everyday when I’m not working.
Q: Did you ever marry?
A: No.
Q: Do you have children?
A: One.
Q: What is your child’s name?
A: Glenn McNeil.
Q: Do you have any grandchildren?
A: I have two goddaughters and one of my goddaughters has a daughter.
Q: Where do you attend church?
A: Faith Temple Church of God in Christ.
Q: What keeps you busy these days?
A: Well, when you get down here (to the Atmore SAIL Center) and go back home, you don’t have much to do because the day is almost over.
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
A: I like the Christian stations.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: All of it. I like anything.
Q: What advice would you like to give people on staying healthy?
A: Eat right. You have to eat right to live.
