FBC Atmore VBS slated for June 2-6
First Baptist Church Atmore will host Vacation Bible School June 2-6 from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Retreat registration deadline on June 2
Walnut Hill Baptist is hosting a one-day ladies' retreat using the materials of Beth Moore. The retreat will be held June 21 from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Participants will receive a tote bag, journal and other goodies. Breakfast and lunch will be included in the $20 registration fee. Anyone interested in attending needs to contact Somer at 327-6469. Registration deadline is June 2.
Walnut Hill Baptist VBS slated June 4-6
Walnut Hill Baptist Church will be having a three day Vacation Bible School June 4-6 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The theme is Lifeway's Outrigger Island.
All activities will be geared around a tropical theme. On the last day of VBS there will be a hot dog supper and games and a water slide. VBS commencement will be held on Sunday, June 8. VBS is opened to 4 year olds through students completing 5th grade. Anyone interested in attending can call Ramona at 327-4676 or email whbctcogb@gmail.com. Early registration is appreciated.

Walnut Hill Mennonite Church will host Vacation Bible School for children 5 years old up to 10th grade on June 2-13 from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Moore to host rabies clinics June 7
There will be a rabies clinic conducted by Dr. Tommy Moore of Atmore Animal Hospital on June 7 at the following locations:

Cosmetology event slated for June 7-10
Alabama State Cosmetology annual educational convention begins June 7-10 at The Ashbury Hotel in Mobile.

Riding for Rhonda slated for June 7
A motorcycle ride for Rhonda McKinley Wright will be held June 7 at 9 a.m. at Byrneville Community Center in Century, Fla. to help with a pancreas transplant that’s needed because of severe diabetes and other complications. The donation is $20 a bike, and also there will be plates sold for $5, with pulled pork or chicken, two sides, bread, drink and cake. The plates will be served at 11 a.m. until the food runs out. Come and help make this transplant possible.

Art, antique festival slated for June 7
Come to the country for the First Annual Southwest Alabama Antique and Art Fair in Uriah, June 7 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Rain date will be June 14th. Artists from all over Southwest Alabama and Northwest Florida will be there. Original Fine Art, Original Folk Art, Original Pottery, Hand Crafted Quilts and Antiques.

Mt. Olive to host Mission Day
Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church will host a Mission Day Program June 8 at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited. Choirs are asked to render an A/B section.

Hendersons will perform June 8
The Hendersons will be in concert on Sunday June 8 at Bratt Assembly of God Church. The group will take stage at 11 a.m. and lunch will follow.

Commission to meet June 9
The Escambia County Commission will conduct a regular session on June 9 at 9 a.m. in the County Commission Chambers, Room 201 at the Escambia County Courthouse in Brewton. The Administrative Workshop will be held on June 5 at 8:30 a.m.
Beulah Camp to host Master’s Men
The Master’s Men will be in concert at Beulah Camp Ground June 14 at 7 p.m. The camp meeting will run from June 12-22 with services at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily.

Beulah Camp is interdenominational and is located one mile south of Hwy. 84 between Repton and Excel.
Sardis VBS slated for June 9-13
Sardis Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible School June 9-13 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. for Pre-K children through sixth grade. Adults will have Bible study on Wednesday evenings through the month of June. The youth will have Bible study on June 6.
Gaines Chapel hosts VBS June 9-13
Gaines Chapel AME Church would like to extend an invitation to you to attend their annual Vacation Bible School. Gaines Chapel will be a tropical island where the Champions for Jesus will be in attendance.

Community festival to be held June 14
The Concerned Citizens of Atmore’s “Unity in the Community” will be held June 14 from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Houston Avery Park.
There will be a waterslide, facepainting, a cakewalk, a moonwalk, pony rides and much more at the event.
The MLK Little League Baseball Tournament will be at 3 p.m.

Robinsonville Baptist Church Vacation Bible School 2008 will be held June 16-20 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The theme this year is Outrigger Island. Pre-register online at robinsonvillebc.org.

Police Academy to be held July 14-18
The eighth annual Youth Police Academy will be held July 14-18 at Jefferson Davis Community College.
Lodging will be at JDCC’s Lakeview Dormitory.
Those interested must be ages 12-17 with an interest in law enforcement.
The cost is $175, which includes lodging, food, two academy T-shirts, graduation reception and training materials.
The deadline to register is June 2 and a $75 deposit is due when application is turned in.

Grand School reunion June 26-29
The J.F. Shields/MCTS Grand School Reunion will be June 26-29 in Beatrice. Thursday night will be hospitality night in the school band room beginning at 7 p.m.

Wawbeek Volunteer Fire Department’s monthly yard sale will be held the first Saturday of each month 8 a.m. until. Money goes to purchase Jaws of Life. Reasonable donations accepted.
Class of ‘58 to hold reunion July 5

Fiddler’s Convention to be held July 19

First Presbyterian hosts Bible Study
The Atmore community is invited to the study, “Vertically Inclined: Climbing Higher with God” by author, Mary Kassian. This exciting, seven-session, video-based study is especially designed to show Christian women how, by tethering themselves more securely to Him, they can climb to greater spiritual heights.
Along the way, participants will be challenged to: develop an increased loyalty to Christ and His work; to examine their values and renew their determination; to take steps to increase their love for Christ, and to enjoy Him more.
The study begins June 25 and will run for seven weeks, meeting each Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church on Horner Street. Childcare will be provided and the cost of the study book is $15.

Muscogee Boys to perform June 28
Bay Springs Full Gospel Church will hold a singing June 28 at 6 p.m. featuring the Muscogee Boys and local talent. Also, there will be a benefit for Bro. Joe Welch held that same night. Everyone is welcome.

"Miracles" will be the theme of this year's Vacation Bible School at Trinity Episcopal Church in Atmore. This year's session will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. July 21 through July 25. On Friday the 25, there will be a Family Night celebration.

Kelley’s Ambulance Service will offer the following classes:
