Tanner Smith’s complete game backed up by good defense helped secure a trip to the state tournament in Alexander City when Atmore defeated T.C. (Gray) 5-0 on June 24.
Manager Tim McAnally said the win could be attributed to great pitching and defense by his team.
Trey Weekes contributed offense by hitting 2-for-3 with a homerun and a double and scoring two runs.
Tristan McAnally, Coby Smith and Jonathan Griffis scored the other runs for Atmore.
Atmore 5
Boykin (Blue) 4
Tristan McAnally pitched a complete game for the 11-year-old Atmore Cal Ripken All-Stars in a 5-4 victory over Boykin (blue) on June 23 in the semi-finals of the district tournament.
McAnally pitched six inning and also scored two runs on a hit and walk for Atmore.
Trey Weeks had a 1-for-2 day at the plate and scored one run.
Coby Smith hit two singles and scored twice for Atmore in the contest.
Nate and Tanner Smith and Trey Weekes also hit singles for Atmore.
The win sent Atmore to the championship game in the district tournament.
Atmore 14
Satsuma 4
For the second time in three days Atmore crushed Satsuma 14-4 on June 23.
Tanner Smith led the charge with a home run while scoring two runs in the game.
Tristan McAnally and Tripp Vickery combined for two hits and three runs in the rout.
Brodie Amos notched a single and scored a run for Atmore.
Nate Smith managed two singles and scored two runs for Atmore while Trey McGhee scored after hitting single and being walked.
John Sawyer, Coby Smith and Trey Weeks scored runs as well.

Theodore 3
Tristan McAnally had two hits and score two runs as the Atmore 11-year-old Cal Ripken All-Stars whipped Theodore 7-3 on June 22.
McAnally hit-2-for-4 in the game legging out a single and double.
Coby Smith hit a single in the third inning and later scored along with Trey Weekes.
Tanner Smith had a base hit late in the game and later scored a run for Atmore.
John Sawyer and Jon-Jon Griffis also scored runs in the game.
Atmore 14
Satsuma 4
Trey Weekes led Atmore’s 11-year-old Cal Ripken All-stars to their first victory of the district tournament on June 21. Atmore defeated Satsuma 14-4.
Weekes started the offense with a homerun in the first inning and later hit a double, but scored three runs total.
Nate Smith hit 1-for-3 on the day with a single while scoring two runs.
Tanner Smith also hit a single in an inning where Atmore scored eight runs.
The same inning Trey McGhee hit a single and scored as well.
Tristan McAnally, Coby Smith, Tripp Vickery, Brodie Amos, John Sawyer, Newt Lambeth and Dalton Simmons all scored.
Matthew’s Park 7
Atmore 1
Runs were hard to come by for the 11-year-old Atmore Cal Ripken All-Stars in a crushing 7-1 loss to Matthew’s Park on June 20.
John Sawyer scored the lone run late in the game after a double by Tripp Vickery.
Sawyer did not manage hit, but made it to base on a fielder’s choice.
Vickery hit 1-for-3 in the game and notched the only true hit for Atmore.
Semmes 14
Atmore 7
Coby Smith led the 11-year-old Atmore Cal Ripken All-Stars with two runs in a 14-7 loss to Semmes on June 19.
Coby Smith was advanced by Nate Smith’s single, but Tanner Smith’s home run drove in all three scores.
Tristan McAnally hit a single in the fifth inning and that led to runs scored by him, Coby Smith and Brodie Amos.
John Sawyer scored the last run for the Atmore All-Stars in the loss.
