Harvell has lived in many towns, Atmore is home

(This week The Atmore Advance spotlights 73-year-old Evelyn Harvell enjoys visiting the Atmore SAIL Center and visiting with friends.)
Q: When and where were you born?
A: I was born in Houston, Ga. on Nov. 17, 1934..
Q: Who were your parents?
A: My parents were the late Fred and Bertha Brown.
Q: Where did you work?
A: I actually worked at the SAIL Center for a while.
Q: Where have you lived?
A: I’ve lived in a lot of places. I have lived in Cleveland, Ohio; Arkansas and my favorite place I lived was Tampa, Fla.
Q: What do you like most about Atmore?
A: I like that it’s a small town, and the people are friendly.
Q: Did you ever marry?
A: Yes, I was married on Sept. 22, 1976.
Q. What is your spouse’s name?
A: My husband’s name is James Harvell.
Q. How did you and your spouse meet?
A. We met while we worked at a hot shop in Cleveland. A hot shop is a type of restaurant.
Q: What advice can you give married couples for them to have a long, healthy marriage?
A: A couple just needs to love each other and remain faithful to each other.
Q. Do you have any children?
A: Yes, I have five children. They are Frederick, Malissa, Damian, Anthony and Shanaz.
Q. Do you have any grandchildren?
A. Yes, I have 10 grandchildren.
Q: Where do you attend church?
A: I go to church at New Pleasant Hill.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Spaghetti is my favorite thing to eat.
Q: Are you a good cook?
A: No, I am definitely not a good cook, but I love to eat.
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
A: I love to watch soap operas. I do not have one in particular that is my favorite, but I love to watch them all. They interest me.
Q: What advice would you like to give people on staying healthy?
A: Eat healthy food, exercise daily and just live your life right.
Q. Why do you like coming to the SAIL Center?
A. There are good people here, and I enjoy their company.
