ATMORE – Vernie Mae Austin Bledsoe, 84, of Atmore died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 in Atmore.
She was retired from Vanity Fair Mills as a supervisor, and was born in Chapman on March 16, 1924 to the late Rev. Ed and Birdie Bell Jordan Austin. She was a member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church of Atmore.
Survivors include, her husband of 66 years, William Bledsoe of Atmore; one son, William Austin Bledsoe and wife Dixie of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Connie B. Knight and husband Ed of Bermuda and Ginny Andress and husband Darrell of Spanish Fort; four grandchildren, Audra Lee Bledsoe, Shannon Gilbert, Misty Chavers and SSGT James William Knight and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2008 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Grindle and the Rev. James Boyd officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest cemetery in Monroeville. Family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
